The History of Liverpool SoccerStarz

From Steven Gerrard to Joe Gomez, Martin Skrtel to Mohamed Salah, we’ve now released hundreds of officially licensed Liverpool FC figures adored by reds all over the world. To celebrate over 10 years of Liverpool and Soccerstarz, let’s go back through the years and remember some of our greatest LFC products!
The First Blind Bag

The year is 2012; Manchester City have won their first ever premier league, London has successfully hosted the Olympics, and SoccerStarz has just launched its first-ever blind bag.

The inaugural edition of the SoccerStarz blind bag was released on August 9th 2012, consisting of 32 figures from 4 of the biggest teams in the Premier League. Among the four English teams available in the blind bags was Liverpool FC. Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United also featured, with each club having 8 individual players feature in the series.

Did you know, the first ever SoccerStarz figure was a Liverpool player? Spanish shot-stopper Pepe Reina possesses the famed collector number SOC001. Also joining him in the blind bag line-up was then-captain Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Glen Johnson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.

If you’d like to add one of the first ever Liverpool FC figures to your collection, you can purchase Andy Carroll (SOC007) on the official SoccerStarz website today!
The Rodgers Years

Following the success of the first blind bag, a second series was subsequently released, this time featuring over 100 figures to collect. More Liverpool figures were indeed added to the lineup, including defensive duo Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger, complete with their iconic arm sleeve tattoos.

It wasn’t long until more figures were sculpted and released, this time in regular blister packaging. 2014 saw Raheem Sterling, Joe Allen, Lucas Leiva, Daniel Sturridge, and Phillipe Coutinho all added to the LFC collection.

This would be a year etched into the memories of Liverpool fans, marked by both triumphs and disappointments. Leading the league for a significant portion of the campaign, and achieving historic victories over Manchester United at Old Trafford and the eventual champions at Anfield, the Reds would ultimately falter towards the business end of the season. They succumbed to Manchester City - a side they’d defeated just a month prior
The Jurgen Years

A disappointing season followed, and after a troubled start to the 2015/16 campaign, Jurgen Klopp was appointed manager. The rest, as they say, is history.

A Jurgen Klopp figure would be shortly released with the iconic collector number SOC1000. Around this time, recent signings Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi, Christian Benteke and James Milner were also released.

The first official Liverpool Team Pack would go on to be released for the 2016/17 season, celebrating Klopp’s first full season in charge. Limited to just 550 sets, it featured the man himself Jurgen Klopp, Daniel Sturridge, Phillipe Coutinho, Simon Mignolet, Mamadou Sakho, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Divock Origi, Emre Can, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane.
The Egyptian King

The 2017/18 season began with Liverpool snapping up Mohamed Salah from Fiorentina for 34 million pounds. Luckily, SoccerStarz were able to quickly release a Salah Liverpool figure, thanks to previously sculpting a Salah head when he was first signed for Chelsea back in 2014. It wasn’t long until we realised an updated model may be due…

In his debut season with the Reds, Salah broke the Premier League scoring record, scoring 32 goals in what was a marvellous campaign. His contribution led the club to their first Champions League final since 2007 and a respectable 4th place finish in the Premier League. Liverpool and SoccerStarz fans rejoiced when just a year later, a brand new Mohamed Salah figure was released, featuring his iconic afro - something very much missing from the previous version.

Virgil Van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum were also added to the ever-growing Liverpool collection.
The Glory Years

In 2019, Liverpool bounced back in style to win the UEFA Champions League, initiating a threeyear period during which they would go on to claim every possible trophy.

During this time, multiple Liverpool Team packs celebrating these monumental achievements were released, including the iconic 2019/20 Champions Team Pack, featuring a whopping 41 figures. This set is now a must-have collectible for Liverpool fans, as it celebrates the first LFC team to ever win the Premier League.

This era would see more new Liverpool figures added to the lineup, including the first Trent Alexander-Arnold figure. Other figures include a brand new Virgil Van Dijk sculpt, as well as new Fabinho, Andrew Robertson, Naby Keita, Alisson Becker and Joe Gomez figures.

2021/22 saw more new figures added to the Liverpool Collection, including Diogo Jota and Liverpool mascot, Mighty Red! The 2021/22 Team Pack is available now in our winter sale for just £29.99 - go and grab yourself a bargain!
The Brand New Liverpool Collection

The 2023/24 Liverpool Team Pack was launched at the start of the season. It features 20 figures, including brand new sculpts of Jurgen Klopp and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Among the other new additions to the LFC team pack include Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Kostas Tsimikas.
Limited edition 2023/24 away kit figures are also now available, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk donning Liverpool’s modern classic green and white strip. A real collector’s item!

These two players can also be found in the limited edition 'Take the Knee’ collection. Also part of this collection is Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard, Chelsea’s Reece James and Manchester City’s Phil Foden
